I love sushi thai! I prefer this location over the Libertyville one because it's bigger and the staff is a lot friendlier. The manager here is amazing and goes out of his way to make every trip memorable. Customer service is top notch! The food here has been consistently delicious. Orders are always prepared in a timely manner and have amazing flavor. Their menu prices can be a little steep but try coming during happy hour and save a few bucks!

This review will lack detail since i waited too long. However, i know it was over priced for most of the portions you got. Also, the tom yum was not very good. Best i ahve had so far is from simply thai in northbrook. The food itself was decent, nothing amazing. I got the pad woon sen and chicken egg rolls and it came with pot stickers which are very small.

First time here, looked forward to having a shot at Sushi and Thai in one visit. Very fast service. Server was also very pleasant - so fast in a good way. Ordered Shrimp Pad Thai and 4 rolls and we had our food in a matter of 10 minutes. The Pad Thai was quite good, very good shrimp in size and quality and the flavor was very nice. My wife wanted it a bit spicier, but that is pure preference and our server provided us the chili sauce very quickly. The sushi was another thing entirely. I've had better sushi from many grocery stores. I ordered 3 basic rolls (Spicy Tuna, California, and an ACA) as well as one of the house specialty rolls. The rolls were not well made - very loosely rolled and cut unevenly. The rice was either stale or under cooked, as there was a firm enough core to make it unpleasant. The spicy tuna was made with tuna that could best be described as "ground" and just tasted like it had Sriracha as the only other ingredient. I guess I could recommend the place for Thai, but i'd be hard pressed to go here again for sushi.

Had a craving for some thai food. Ordered the Tom Yum rice, fried pot stickers and bangkok cashew chicken. The pot stickers were soaked in a ton of oil and hardly had any meat in them. The fried rice was alright. The cashew chicken was amazing though! Will try this place again in the future and see if the other items are good

If this restaurant was only closer to my house, this place would be our go-to take out place HANDS DOWN. Awesome food. Good prices. You can easily eat inside. It's a very relaxed inside. Not a place for a romantic date but a great place for a casual one or to get together with friends. While this place serves sushi -- it's the Thai that is spot on. We've tried it all. But the curries are my favorite! Not too spicy (unless you ask for more kick). My mouth is salivating just writing this.
(4)Elvin T.
A friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Some of the best sushi I've ever tasted, and definitely the best crab rangoon you'll ever have. Definitely try the Salmon Toro (not on the menu). Staff is friendly with great service. You will leave this place happy.
(5)Susan S.
Came in for half off on sushi rolls , why I chose a Monday not sure, rice wasn't seasoned the sashimi was flat tempura in roll was a little dried out and void of flavor. They microwaved my tepid tea

Our go to place to grab dinner minus a long drive. We'd been here on a weekday night, the place like any other weekday night was pretty empty. We had Chicken Tom Yum soup, Veggie Egg Rolls, Sushi sampler and Veg Khao Suay. What was average :: The soup and sushi. It was the first time trying Tom Yum here. As a soup it was good, but it lacked the heat and punch of a Tom Yum. It was mild, bit sweetish and had an overpowering taste of seafood. I have had the same sushi sampler at their Libertyville location, taste and freshness wise I loved that way better. What was good :: Egg rolls & Khao Suay. The rolls were hot, crispy with a lot of filling. The accompanying sweet chilly sauce was excellent. The Khao Suay was creamy with just the right hint of spices for our spicy tastebuds. Service was courteous and attentive. Overall a good experience, doesn't disappoint.

The sushi was great. I tried the Snow White (amazing) and the Beauty and the Beast (love the eel). This is the only reason why there are stars. The customer service was not. We called the restaurant before we got there to as if we could use a Restaurants.com coupon. The woman who answered put us on hold to ask the manager, then came back with a yes. When we get there we ordered apps and a lot of sushi (since we had the coupon). Didn't think to show the coupon in the beginning since we previously called. By the time the check came, we were told we could not use the coupon (which we paid for, and would save us $25). It then became the blame game. The manager blamed the waitress that we talked to on the phone and the waitress basically blamed us because she heard us incorrectly. Instead of being empathetic, the manager talks about why they don't take the Restaurants.com coupon and goes to the front of the restaurant to take a picture with his phone to show us the sign that is posted in the front saying that they don't take it. As if we didn't believe him (again didn't think to look at this sign since we previously called, we were seated quickly). This was annoying. We just wanted to use the coupon that we paid for and called about. He told us to call Restaurants.com to get a refund (because that sounds like something we want to do) and that he will not take our coupon even though we were told on the phone we could use it. After much debate (literally), he finally said he would give us a discount, which saved us $10 compared to our $25. Fine. Great. I've worked as a manager in a restaurant and you SHOULD make sure your customers leave happy and WILL want to come back. As we were walking out he apologized and said he hopes that we will come back, to which we said we wouldn't, and he reiterated that he gave us a discount. We will not be coming back. Not because of the food, but because the way the manager made us feel (awkward and angry) about the coupon.

This is our go to place. We love it! The food is amazing and it's nice, clean, and relaxing.
(5)Lawrence G.
Consistently delicious and fresh sushi! Great service and atmosphere! They have the best crab rangoon.
(5)Amit M.
great food and sushi they have screwed up a few deliveries- but have come back and taken $$ off the order very nice people over the phone and in person
(4)Liz T.
Yay! Thanks yelp and grubhub for another great place for takeout! I called over the phone and the person on the other line was easy to understand (not typical for thai places). When my husband picked up the food it wasn't ready, but that could easily have been a fluke. The restaurant is in a strip mall across from the Hawthorn Mall and next to the corner bakery. The prices are fair and the food was excellent. I ordered the panang curry with extra veggies and it was enough to split. We also ordered the crab rangoon and they were ENORMOUS. I have never seen crab rangoon so big! I also ordered the bubble tea, but I'm not sure you can go wrong there. I can't comment on the actual restaurant, but I'm impressed with the food, prices, and packaging of the takeout. The food was very fresh and a nice proportion. I'll be back!
(4)Zi-on C.
This is actually a favorite place of my coworkers, and as I've been forced to come here to eat, I've actually had it grow on me. I still think the overall menu is fairly mediocre, but when I come now, I always get their Basil Fried Rice, which I think is particularly well done. Definitely my go-to now.
(3)Oleg D.
Fantastic place! A cozy place and always friendly staff! Great choice of various sushi that are unique and quite different from other places! Very good price point! Highly recommend!
(5)Jessica K.
The only place whose menu I keep for reference. My favorite place to go in the suburbs.
(5)Kristina K.
I used to go to the Libertyville spot but when this one opened and it was so close to me then I had an aahhh moment. It is one of the best sushi places to go to in the Vernon Hills area. The place is clean and well lit. The food is great. The service is great. I hate the location (awkward stip mall in a another strip mall's parking lot) but overall an amazing place. We ordered the Pad Thai. Which was great. Lake forest roll (was good but not my favorite) bears roll, Libertyville roll (was warm and in a lettuce like wrap) and caterpillar. The last three where to die for. And the presentation of the sushi, work of art. If you want a good sushi, it's definitely worth checking out.
(4)Elva D.
The food was delicious. We got the shrimp dumplings, the sunomono salad, Bermuda triangle roll and the masaman curry. The fish tasted fresh and the roll was "meaty". I asked for 4-level spicyness but it wasn't as spicy as I had hoped. The service was excellent and everyone was friendly. The decor was modern and the hip music was a nice touch.
(5)Guy R.
Very large portions. Nice selection of food. The food and the service were very good. We feel this was a very good find
(4)Sarah H.
Hands down the best sushi place I've found - came highly recommended by my boyfriend and we're there once a week now. Prices are fair for the portions/quality and you can do happy hour half price on Mon-Wed (must be seated before 5:30pm and they fill up quickly!). The catch is that you can't take home leftovers (or you'll get charged full price) but just order what you can eat in once sitting and you're golden. Clean and casual but classy ambience and phenomenal sushi...great selection and creative names. LOVE THIS PLACE!!
(5)Teri F.
Went here last night and as usual the food was fresh and flavorful. Tried the mussels for the first time and they were awesome cooked with curry - you get around 6 or 7 on a bed of linguine. Also tried the sushi Thai dumplings and they were meaty and flavorful - those will be a staple going forward! Shared a few rolls and my hubby loves spicey and ordered the Milwaukee rolls - he loved them but they were too spicy for me - if you love spicy, you'd love them!! We also shared the sweet potato roll and it was yummy. All in all, a great reasonable dining experience.

For a time, I would frequent this location for their weekday lunch menu. Although busy, I could grab a good lunch for a decent price. During the work day, I could be in and out fairly quickly. At that time, for the cost and the many experiences I would have rated them a four star experience. This was some years ago. Today I would guess, for anyone checking them out for the first time, most would rate them a solid four. It's a clean establishment that's maintained with decent pricing versus offering. But, more than a year later, and just the other day I had the occasion to check them out once again. This time around with multiple guests and the ability of passing shared plates. We got there about an hour before closing time. From a quarter to 9 till they closed we were constantly reminded that their kitchen would close promptly at 9:30 p. This was a little annoying since I'd only planned to place two orders. Appetizers, then the dinner menu. I would bet that this area often gets slow once all of the companies nearby close for the day. Since most patrons might be, on their way or at home already. Moving along, I ordered a bunch of appetizers, Thai dishes, noodles, fried rice and a couple sushi plates. With a good mixture of adults and children, there were many hungry bellies to fill. The food was decent. Appetizers were alright, although nothing too stellar and nothing worth mention. Their crab Rangoon was shaped like stars but pronounced in a shape like a bulb. The filling had a texture like Cole slaw, slightly sweet and with cream cheese. We also got the crab-meat tempura, veg tempura, chicken egg rolls and some dumplings. Tempura is a good way to go if you have a big group to feed. The veg tempura plate is more like a platter with many fried offerings. While all the dishes satisfied, their skill for serving Thai and sushi was just a mere "a-okay". The sushi was overpriced for average taste, I'm talking about the special plates. We had something called "crunchy munchie" and something else, each costing around $12.95 or $14.95. A few days before I had the occasion of checking out another Sushi Thai location, number III in fact. The waiter here mentioned that each location is a franchise, so they are all different. For now at least, I'm liking the Chicago location a lot more. In Chicago the waiters seemed happy and happy to assist. Since the time between the two visits was recent, the differences were apparent early on.

This is my first review and Sushi Thai deserves it for the awesome experience I had! The food is amazing had the Matt Forte Roll, Thai Ginger, and Green Curry Chicken. The service was wonderful and everything was perfect.

After reading 3.5 star reviews on Yelp, my husband and I decided to try this place out for the first time. We ordered two rolls- play boy & submarine- and chicken fried rice. When the food came out, we were pleased to see how nicely our food was presented. HOWEVER, once we began eating the rolls, we were very very disappointed to the quality of it. The play boy roll barely had any eel! I even took a picture of it as a proof. Both rolls were consisted of so much of rice and a very little of major ingredient, like spicy tuna or eel. The service was good and the fried rice was okay. But we will NOT go back to this place ever again because of their rolls!
(2)Marina K.
This place is our go-to location for sushi, not so much because the food is so great, but mostly because other places that are nearby are either awful or overpriced (I'm looking at you, Tsukasa!) They have a decent selection and generous portions, both off the sushi menu and the regular thai menu, but quality can be hit-or-miss. For instance, their spicy salmon is very dry and just doesn't taste like salmon at all. Fresh salmon, on the other hand, is almost always top notch. It pays off being a regular, since you know what you like already, but if you are adventurous and like to try new food every single time, be prepared for the possibility of disappointment. Perks: if you order online, you get a free egg roll or salad. Pickup is usually very quick, they don't keep you waiting. We only ordered delivery once, because we can't justify a $7 delivery fee from a restaurant that is at most 5 minutes away, with traffic. Their website says that delivery fees range from $4 to $7, but we are the closest residential area to them, and we get charged $7. To get $4, you probably need to work at Red Mango next door... Overall, this is a decent place, but you will not be wowed.

I intended to write this back in December 2013, when I visited. Anyway, I didn't have high hopes for a sushi spot in the midwest on the out skirts of Chicago. But it was a Thai Sushi Fusion spot, and I'm adventurous enough to try. Plus it was kinda late and there weren't very many other options. To my surprise and joy, the food was good, and if you're in the area, you should give them a chance. The sushi was fresh and firm. The Thai food delicious. I have no complaints. I was happy we stopped off here for dinner before heading out to catch a movie.

First visit here - the rolls are tasty. Great service, great atmosphere. Get the Aloha Roll....it was amazing!

During our 'first' visit to Sushi Thai II, we tried two rolls (e.g. Forte roll & Submarine roll), & we liked them. This was our second visit to Sushi Thai II - - only because Sushi Kushi San3 was closed during Sunday lunch. This time, we each tried some Thai food & shared a Submarine roll. I thought that would be enough for lunch, & actually we were stuffed. I ordered Pad Thai with a 2-star level of spicy-ness, & it was delicious!!!!! My husband ordered Chicken Fried rice which looked as great as it tasted. Note: I think the submarine roll at Sushi Kushi is definitely better. The selling point at Sushi Thai is you can experience Thai food along with Japanese food.

The owner, or manager, of this restaurant is the best! He is so friendly and welcoming. The food quality at Sushi Thai is awesome, too. I eat here very often and am never disappointed. Water glass is always full and the food is out quickly. My favorite appetizers are the crab ragoon and the chicken satay--the peanut sauce is so good!

It was a Saturday afternoon and we were looking for ideas of what to eat for lunch. My son had been saying how much he liked this place so we decided to give it a try. We walked in and it wasn't overly crowded. It may be because we showed up about 1:30 for lunch and most everyone had already eaten lunch. We were seated right away and our server took our drink order and had them at our table fairly quick. My wife, son and his buddy already knew what they were going to order. Since I don't typically eat this type food it took me a little while to figure out what I wanted. The menu has all kinds of sushi roll choices with familiar names like the Vernon Hills Roll, The Matt Forte (Chicago Bears Running Back and frequent diner) Roll, The Greenbay Roll and others. The waitress took my wife's order then my son and his friends. I didn't know what to order so I went with the same rolls that my son ordered. I went with the Submarine roll and the Matt Forte roll. I have to say that I was not disappointed. The décor was somewhat trendy inside. It was bigger than it looked like from the outside. They have a bar and a couple of televisions. The staff was very nice and courteous. The rolls were very delicious and filling. I definitely could have ordered one roll and been more than satisfied. I will come back and try the happy hour to give some other rolls a try.

Delicious, fresh, high quality sushi! Appetizer - Edamame Sushi Rolls - Serpentine Roll (Salmon, tamago, and avocado topped with eel and unagi sauce) - Shrimp Tempura Roll (Shrimp tempura, asparagus, avocado and caviar topped with unagi sauce) - Playboy Roll (BBQ eel, crabmeat, shrimp, orange caviar and cream cheese dipped in tempura and deep fried, topped with special sauce) - Dragon Roll (Shrimp, white fish tempura, caviar, lettuce, topped w/ avocado & special sauce) Edamame was served hot, just like I like it. I would put less salt on it than how much they put, but the edamame itself was very soft and yummy. The playboy roll was my favorite. It was warm, and very flavorful! The roll itself was very big too. The serpentine roll was my next favorite, because it had delicious eel :) All of the rolls were pretty big, so after the 4 rolls my boyfriend and I were VERY stuffed, I would consider maybe getting 3 rolls to split between 2 people. The service was very good, friendly... but for some reason they wouldn't bug off when I said I didn't a gingerale refill (when my cup was still half full), they kept asking me. The prices were pretty decent for sushi! I also was able to find a 15% off on the coupon clipper application on my phone :) ... Oooh and on weeknights from 4:30pm to 5:30pm it is 50% off all rolls! Can't wait to come and enjoy such deliciousness for half the price :)
(4)Marie M.
Good asian food. Solid service. Solid pad thai. Variety of rolls. In my opinion, this location is better and seems slightly larger than the Libertyville location. Maybe it is the way it is decorated but I just prefer their setup here. The Vernon Hills spot is open on Sundays (Libertyville one is closed Sundays). Although if you want to eat outside the Libertyville location has a nice small outdoor patio.
(4)Kelly C.
I used to really like this place. The past few times I've been to this location I've ordered a spider roll. It comes with fried crab, well its supposed to. The past 3 times I've gotten it there wasn't any crab noticeable. It just tasted like friend battered. So disappointing. Their chicken fried rice is really good though. And I do like the decor.

Sushi Thai II has quickly become one of my favorite local spots! I was pleasantly surprised at both the service & the food itself. I came here with my fiance for a date night. I love sushi and she loves thai food so for us, this is the best of both worlds. Plus we're both Vegetarian and this place has options for that too. We ordered a slew of things... Panang Curry - Delicious, easily one of the best we've tasted. Loaded with tofu (cut into smaller pieces, which is great!). The sauce was very flavorful and had a nice consistency to it. Avocado Roll - Avocado was fresh and tasted great, definitely did not skimp on the avocado and not overly loaded with rice as many other places do. Vegetable Roll - Comes stuffed with 6 different types of veggies that tasted great together, also very fresh! Mango-Avo-Q Roll - Something very different and worth a try. The mango sauce is delicious. Was skeptical about the combo of avocado, mango and cucumber - but surprisingly it works well and the end result is a delicious roll that tastes both fresh & sweet! Fruity Roll (This one is seasonal) - ORDER IT IF THEY HAVE IT! Never had a dessert roll before and this one tasted soooo good. The mango and strawberry taste so great together and its a very interesting dessert to try. The presentation was excellent as well, and i'm happy to say it tastes good as it looks. Thai Iced Tea - One of my favorite drinks and I love that this place has it. I wish the glass were a little bit bigger though, i was able to finish it very quickly since the glass is on the small side and Thai Iced Tea is loaded with ice. Overall, i'm going to give this place 5 stars. There's an excellent blend of both Sushi & Thai food and there's a number of interesting and unique items to order from the menu. The employees were very friendly and attentive and that's always a great plus when you combine it with excellent food.
(5)Rob S.
We have ordered from sushi thai numerous times. My wife is ok with it but I really don't thin their sushi is good at all. They use way too much rice in their rolls, the fish doesn't have the freshest flavor and their rolls lack the creativity of other spots. Their thai food is par but nothing above average. Plus one star for having online ordering.
(2)ImtheMom A.
I ordered delivery: one Kentucky Roll and one Munchie Crunchy Roll. Delivery was fast, and both rolls were delicious. The rolls are large, but I question whether the quantity of "main" ingredient matched the price that I paid ($10.95 Kentucky, $11.95 Munchie). Main ingredient of Kentucky Roll is baked salmon: it seemed like such a small amount of salmon in the roll. Main ingredients of Munchie Crunchie roll are tobiko caviar inside and shrimp on top: again, it seemed like such a small quantity of tobiko and shrimp. The filler for both rolls was tempura flakes, which must be the cheapest ingredient so they stuff the tempura flakes to make the rolls large. Yes, the rolls taste delicious, but it seemed that all the taste came from the tempura flakes and the sauce, not the main ingredients. Can any other reviewer speak to this question of whether Sushi Thai skimps on the expensive ingredients in a roll, but charges an expensive price anyway? I'm not a sushi expert so maybe my expectations are not correct. Answer: here is what someone told me: "That sounds about right when you are talking about cooked rolls. If you want the fish to be the main ingredient, you usually need to get raw rolls or smaller maki rolls. If you want the fish to be front and center, you order the nigiri or sashimi. Otherwise, the idea is big rolls with multiple ingredients and heavier on the fillers. Such is American sushi."
(3)Deeds P.
First I will say this place is super cute inside - definitely a nicer atmosphere than you'd expect from the outside. Staff was friendly and attentive. And prices weren't horrible. That being said, the food was so sub par for sushi and Thai. My husband's basil chicken literally had 4 pieces of chicken and what looked like an entire bag of frozen vegetables. The fried rice was not bad, but a little on the bland side. I had gotten 2 rolls - the Bermuda Triangle, which was entirely too much rice for their speciality roll price. And some spicy roll (can't remember name); this "spicy" roll had this horrendous mix of what tasted like sriracha and ketchup squeezed all over it. It was so bad, I actually couldn't finish the roll! I eat sushi roughly weekly, and have done some major damage at all-you-can-eats, so this was definitely hard w/ my "no piece left behind" attitude. We just moved from the city, so I wasn't expecting anything to the extent of sushi greatness out here -- but this place should reconsider what they serve their customers. Possibly this was an off night, but we will not return to test it out. Since dining here, I have found sushi greatness in the burbs -- Shakou in Libertyville. Still on the quest for decent Thai...
(1)Ray F.
Great place for fresh, tasty sushi! Prices are very reasonable for the quality of product!
(4)Cristina R.
Very simple ...great place, great staff, awesome service, good atmosphere Now here is the best part ! Monday Tuesday & Wednesday Happy HOUR SPECIAL 4:30-5:30! Half off sushi rolls .... I'm telling you is so worth it I'm here twice a week Forte roll is TDF!!
(5)Brian T.
Forte roll is the best thing I've ever eaten. Great place to eat and environment is amazing. Place is super clean and everyone is so friendly.
(5)David Y.
My wife and I have been here a few times for dinner and have done take-out. The Thai dishes are really good. Favorites being the Pad-See-Ewe and Pad Thai. The Curry dishes are not too spicy, but flavorful. Last time I was here, I had a few rolls. The unagi roll was good but the Chicago Bulls roll was very dry. The tuna taste was lost in how dry the insides were. Overall, service is friendly and quick. I'll have to try out more rolls to know which ones I like.
(4)holly l.
I really really enjoy their dishes like the udon noodle soup and the spicy basil! They give really good lunch portions and it's full of flavor. I love that they give the rice on the side, not like Green Basil where it's all in one bowl. it' snot very crowded yet there is a good lunch crowd. I must say, i never had any rolls but the submarine roll and i enjoyed it because of the freshness of the cucumber in it.
(5)Amanda S.
Had them deliver suahi worst sushi I had. Feel apart did not taste that good. I love sushi but this was not good at all. Cant believe that I paid $40 n it made a big mess.
(1)Zhan B.
Just tried sushi here! Taste really good! Good costumer service! Great place! Thank You!
(5)Mustafa A.
Good sushi and good customer service. Definitely recommend it!

We ate here last night for the first time with our children (11 &14). We ordered five different rolls to start, and then repeated two of them. They were so yummy! Additionally, the Blackhawks game was about to start and the owner changed the channel. Our son is a HUGE Hawks fan, and when he saw this his face saddened. We didn't say anything, but the owner saw his expression and quickly put the game back on. We look forward to returning soon!!
(4)Jessica Y.
We ordered delivery on a Tuesday night and Saturday afternoon. Both times took about an hour. Seaweed salad, gyoza, crab rangoon, udon noodle soup, miso soup, and a bunch of different rolls were ordered. Nothing was particularly amazing - underwhelmed. The roll I ate was rubbery because whoever filleted the fish did not do a good job. I had to separate the skin from the fish. Perhaps for happy hour but not worth it otherwise. Go down to Sushi Kushi San.

Sushi Thai is super convenient and pretty good food. It's available through GrubHub which makes it really easy and fast. Delivery is always fairly prompt (within an hour) and the food arrives hot. The later in the night you order, the longer it takes. About the food. They serve Sushi and Thai food as the name suggests. Neither is spectacular, but it is all pretty good. The sushi is usually fresh. The salmon and tuna nigiri is always pretty good, and the rolls aren't bad. The Eel Rolls are usually flavorful. My only real issue is the rice - it almost always tastes over done and mushy. The Thai seems a little better. The egg rolls, salads, curry's, and main dishes are always flavorful and cooked well. Not too overdone and a good mix of heat with spicy flavors. The green curry has plenty of heat and a good mix of basil/spices. The fried rice is usually pretty good as well. Again, the rice seems a tad overdone, but the flavor is good. All in all, it's pretty good Thai food. Combine this with the convenience of ordering through GrubHub, and we find ourselves ordering this at least twice a month. The Thai Iced Tea really is good. It's a good mix of sweet and tea to make it delicious. I would recommend this. It's not going to blow you away, but it is good food at a decent price. It's priced accordingly and a good value for all the food you get.
(4)Nicole S.
I was shockingly surprised for the first time at a Fusion Asian restaurant. Every other one I've been to has not provided TRUE Thai food. Not so here. I had the chicken Pad Thai and it was AWESOME, as was the Thai Iced Tea! My husband had Spicy Basil Chicken, which looked great. He was so impressed with it he suggested this place for a work lunch tomorrow! The servers were friendly and accessible. Our drinks were refilled endlessly and the food came out quick and hot! The only reason we tried this was my two go two Thai place are closed on Sundays. I'm so glad they were! We will definitely be back!
(5)James S.
We order out for delivery from Sushi Thai regularly. The fried rice, pad thai, and variety of rolls are very tasty. Favorites are Green Bay rolls, Orange Dragon and Crunchy Munchy (not really sushi but a good way to get kids to try them). Also Chicken egg rolls are delicious. It is an easy family place to dine in at where the little kids can order fried rice or chicken satay and even some of the cooked rolls. They also have those Japanese sodas where the kids open them by popping the ball into them (they aren't cheap though, $3 each). Is it a bit overpriced? yes but my wife and I can enjoy sushi with the kids on a night out and the place is pleasant for families. thumbs up!
(4)Lani B.
Love the happy hour! My girlfriends and I love it! My husband didn't like the sashimi so much, but I love the rolls. This is the place for rolls and some Japanese-Thai fusion food! Great for date night!
(5)Julina C.
Every time I come here I am amazed. The atmosphere is wonderful.... Their music selection is amaze balls... Hello throwback 90s/early 2000s R&B! The sushi rolls...... AMAZING! I love the food. Everything flows just right. Whether you're on your lunch break, happy hour, or out on a date, this place is perfect. If you love sushi, you must try this place!
(4)Taylor M.
Went here during Happy Hour for half priced rolls and it was awesome! I was surprised by the size of the rolls. I ordered the normal amount of rolls, but I was stuffed. I had to force myself to keep eating. I will know better next time. Sushi Thai had some interesting rolls that I was excited to try out. There are some rules of the game that you have to follow for Happy Hour like carry out is not allowed (that's why I had to stuff myself) and you are only allowed one check per table. The service was quick and friendly. I also had the miso soup (which I am usually pretty picky about) and it was really good. I also really liked the trendy ambiance of the restaurant.

Had some great sushi here while staying in the area for business. Order was ready in about 10 minutes. Seafood was fresh, roll choices were unique and had some great flavors. I even loved the Deep Fried JB roll, and I don't normally go for the cooked ones. Good service too, they even sold me a couple beers so I could take them back to my hotel. Much appreciated since there wasn't a gas station or carry out anywhere close!

Sushi Thai II has just become my new favorite place to eat in Vernon Hills. There are a lot of restaurants in the area, but only a handful really appeal to me. Several good restaurants disappeared, or adjusted the menu to feature less of the dishes I enjoy. My friend and I decided to try Sushi Thai II for the first time, after seeing it for a few months. I'm glad we did, because everything we ordered were exceptional. We started with the cucumber salad and tom yum soup, and both were excellent. I've tried a lot of different restaurants tom yum soup, and this was in my top 5. We ordered chicken with peppers & garlic, which was super-tasty, and features very fresh and perfectly-prepared veggies. We also ordered three rolls - El Mariachi, Aloha, and Tom Yum. All three rolls were tasty, featuring generous amounts of fresh ingredients, and very well prepared. For desert, we split a bubble tea and fried banana mochi, which were great - we prefer desserts that aren't too sweet, and these were just right. Service was fast, and very attentive. The restaurant is very attractively decorated, adding to the enjoyment of our dinner. All-in-all, we had a great dinner, and are looking forward to going back to Sushi Thai II. As well, it's great to have another great option when we go shopping in the Vernon Hills area.

Food: 4 Decor: 3 Service: 3 I came here with a group of 3 friends for lunch around 2pm on Thursday. 1. Yellow curry, 11 yelp.com/biz_photos/amYM… Pretty good. Mild spice level was just right. My friend got two rolls and some sashimi, which was served on a huge platter. Presentation was definitely pretty good for all our dishes, and his sushi wasn't bad either. Service was good, and the music selection is awesome (lot of old R&B). Definitely would come back, maybe for their HH.

Best sushi in Vernon Hills. The lunch special mon-fri is a great deal. I love the salmon Thai salad & all the rolls are amazing!

Food is good! The service stinks! The servers are rude and they rush you! I feel this may be a philosophy with the Sushi Thai ownership. We had the exact same experience at the Sushi Thai in Libertyville, IL (months prior to this experience). I was with two other coworkers who felt the same exact way. It was not like people were waiting to be seated either. The food is good, but there are plenty of good sushi restaurants in the area. I will not be going back.

My fiance and I had heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try. It is a little out of the way for us, but the food was great! She is vegetarian but there were plenty of selections of sushi that were fish-less, not to mention all the thai food and such. I throughly enjoyed the roll I had (nippon rool), and even the presentation was lovely. They also deliver, which I will try out some time soon. The menu is large and has something for everyone. The feel of the place is comfortable, with many places to sit. I will be trying out more of the menu soon.

Went here for lunch today. The restaurant was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Ordered Panang Curry with chicken. It was marked on the menu as a spicy dish. The price was $10.95. The flavor was good. The presentation was nice. It came with a small bowl of rice. For being a 'spicy' dish, it didn't have the level of heat that I would have expected. I would come back and try other things. It was a nice place, good service and a very extensive menu of both sushi and thai food.

Went there for the 1st time this past weekend with a girlfriend. Price was right. Food was great! Loved the decor. Service was wonderful. We both loved it! I cannot wait to go back!

Definitely recommend Panang Curry or any of the sushi rolls. Love the Wildcat Ro ll or Vernon Hills Roll :) Trying the Snow White Roll ... Yum!

Had to wait 1.5 hours and new chiefs. Couldn't get free drinks for happy hour...

I love sushi. I was hoping to find another place in the area that had good sushi, but didn't charge and arm and a leg. What you will find is cheap sushi (half price on Monday through Wednesdays 4:30-5:30). However, the quality of the sushi is mediocre at best. I would stick with the simple rolls. If you do this you can get an 8 piece roll for about 3 dollars, perhaps cheaper. The more complex, less authentic rolls are the ones which cost a lot. The rice is sometimes a bit dry, and the rolls are never very cold. So if you want cheap sushi, come here, but don't expect to have the best sushi you've ever had. Also, if you do go to happy hour, you are only allowed to have one check. So plan ahead.

We go to eat out with fam and friends every Friday and sometimes during the week here. I made reservations last night because of Valentine's day. When we arrived they told us they could not seat us because they were too busy and had to use the tables. We should have left! After 30 minutes they suggested we sit at 5 different tables throughout the restaurant! We had 6 adults and 4 children, not even possible!! We have been coming here since they opened in Libertyville years ago! SUSHI THAI VERNON HILLS......we are done! How to go from family to foe in one night. How disrespectful!! Reservations come before walk ins period. Busy or not! Shoving us aside and saying sorry you are too busy. What we heard your time means NOTHING to us, your business means NOTHING to us and honestly we don't care if you are here or Shakou or sushi kushi or any of the other numerous sushi bars in a 10 mile radius of our home! Busy or not these were beyond UNACCEPTABLE by every person in our party!

Half price rolls!! Monday-Wednesday 4:30-5:30--can't beast that. Miso soup was really good and hot. Service was friendly and fast. The rolls were really good and they definitely did not skimp on the size. The place itself is really cute with exposed brick walls and high ceiling. I do not pretend to be an expert on sushi, but I would definitely return.

I am from Boston and visited for Wrigley Field and came in after the game and boy was I delighted. I loved the Matt Forte rolls and the dragon rolls the best. The manager came over and asked us if everything was ok, and seemed very polite and we really had a nice time. If I am ever in the area again I will 100% be back.

Yes! I found good pad thai in the burbs!! Woohoo! The burbs are not known for their good food.. let's just keep it real. All my family travels to Chicago when they want to eat good food. I was on my way back to Chicago but was so hungry I didn't want to wait til I got home to get food. So I stopped at Sushi Thai II and I was pleasantly surprised. Their Pad Thai was so good!!! I will go back there when I'm in VH again for sure. Usually I don't believe in places that rock two types of cuisines, but so far the thai was good, I'm not sure about the sushi yet. The place was nice and clean. My server was a little slow, but other than that this was a good experience.
(3)Scott B.
The sushi was fresh, and pretty good, but children sized, at best. The Thai was average, with no spice. The service was really good though. I'd probably come back, but only at happy hour.

Be cautious of the online promotions - they don't honor them even when you link from their website. Obviously others have gone through this because they have flyers with a different site when you question it. They also wouldn't deliver to our office which is 1.1 miles away. With that said - the Pad Thai is really great! Wish their service matched it.

One of the better Thai and sushi places nearby for the burbites. Nice and clean decor. Friendly management. Very fair prices and good quantities. I would return especially for happy hour.
(4)Albert K.
Stopped here because it was lunch time, I was driving past and thought Thai would be nice. The only way to get Thai food was to order the lunch special that was $12.00 (not much of a special) with mostly sushi and a little bit of Thai. The Thai food was rather bland.

This is a great place to go for my sushi loving husband and myself (who doesn't eat fish). He gets to eat fish, and I get to have Pad Thai. Their Pad Thai is great, I can't say much for their sushi since I don't eat it, but the presentation is always beautiful. We are always met with a warm hello when we come in and service has always been prompt.
(4)Michael B.
We've enjoyed both locations and have found the food to be creative, and the service friendly. 1/2 price sushi roll deals are the tops - ask for the Sneaky-Ninja!
(4)Aman A.
First time going to this place and I was pretty impressed. The service was fast and the rolls were good, espicially the eel. The prices weren't terrible either so i'd go back here again.

Stopped in for lunch today. I was teetering between 3 and 4 starts, but I was feeling generous, hence the 4 stars (3.5 stars would have been more appropriate). The staff was very nice. Prompt. Friendly. No issues there. The food was definitely tasty. I stuck to a pretty basic meal because I was on my lunch break and watching wat I eat, so I didn't want to do anything fried. I loved their spicy tuna rolls. Delish. The atmosphere is definitely nice. It's a newer place with good decor. My only complaint is that there are not enough options for mixing and matching different foods at a reasonable price. I was specifically craving rolls, but most of the rolls were $9-$12 for one roll (6-8 pieces). They had a few options in the $40-$50 range (sashimi, sushi, ect), but this looked like it would feed 2, maybe 3 people. They do offer a lunch special, which seemed like a great deal for about $11, but I wasn't in the mood for the food items that came with the special. I wanted all rolls :) Anyway, I would have loved to see a mix and match option (rolls only) in the $15-20 range :) I would definitely go again, but maybe with friends so we could share food and do our own mix and match meal.

Had the salmon skin roll and veggie pad see ew... both were so yummy and the atmosphere here is a delight!

Big. Fat. Meh. Nothing impressive.

Cj the new server was amazing. Best service we've ever had, we will be back for sure.

We have been to the Sushi Thai in Libertyville 5+ times and the one in VH twice. Obviously we like the restaurant or we wouldn't have gone back so many times. However, on our second visit to VH last week, we were less than pleased. First, we ordered vegetarian egg rolls. Got the egg rolls, bit in, and discovered chicken. As a vegetarian, nothing makes me more angry. Our server explained that the vegetarian egg rolls have chicken but the vegetarian spring rolls do not. Huh? Seems like they're not vegetarian after all. Oh, and he left them on the bill too. More concerning is that the 2 sushi eaters developed a rash/hives the next morning. A food allergy is highly unlikely as we eat sushi often, eat at this restaurant semi-frequently, and did not order anything new or different. We are disappointed as we like this restaurant, but we won't go back.

Good sushi with good presentation. The Thai was not great but necessarily not bad either. The drunken noodles were not spicy at all, but should have been. The service was pleasant. The atmosphere is comfortable and clean. The prices were a little on the high side.

I am addicted to sushi thai. I used to frequent the Sushi Thai in Libertyville and am thrilled that they put on in Vernon Hills. I made some suggestions regarding the service to the manager and they listened to me immediately. The food is delicious especially, the Dragon Roll, Munchy Crunchy Roll, the bubble tea(mango is my favorite) I love there Pad Thai on the lunch special. I have not attended happy hour because I like to go when its not too crowded..Its well worth the money..Yummy

Went there today to take advantage of the happy hour sushi. I ordered the green bay sushi and the spicy salmon. The size of the spicy salmon was laughable! And the green bay had 5 smallish pieces. Wasn't a big fan of the HUGE sprigs of coriander they stuck in my already smallish sushi pieces trying to make it fuller but only ended up loosing the way they were wrapped. All I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't paying full price. I would have been a very unhappy customer. We got the Sapporo beer big bottle and it was our fault that we didn't ask the price but that's because we never thought it would have been $8 for the bottle!!! My husband ordered the red curry which had a good taste but not the spice that he was looking for and came with a tiny bowl of rice. All in all, a less than average experience. Oh the worst was that they have a rule that they'll take your order for the happy price sushi ONLY ONCE IN AN HOUR!! Are you kidding me? And if you end up ordering more than you can eat, you can't take it home. Again, are you kidding me?

What a great new spot for sushi in VH! This is the second location of Sushi Thai over in Libertyville. Firstly, what a beautiful place! It just feels nice to be there! The staff is all very friendly and attentive. Hopefully they begin to get more business so they have more to do! Come in and pass the word along to your friends because you have to have this Sushi! After trying basically every place from the northside of the city to Vernon Hills, this will definitely be where I go when I'm up this far north! Just try it, trust me :)

I went for a late dinner last week with my daughter. We are both big sushi fans. We tried the Crab Rangoon and were very pleased. We also ordered the Chicago Cub and Wildcat rolls. Both were delicious! We will definitely return to try some of the other entrees and menu items. Service was also pretty good!

This location is physically much nicer and more comfortable than the Libertyville location. Great food, excellent sushi, definitely worth a visit...especially during happy hour.

When I worked in Vernon Hills, my co-workers and I always ordered sushi for lunch on Saturdays. I have a shellfish allergy, but I had never had an issue anywhere else because it is as simple as informing them of my allergy and the restaurant telling me if they can or cannot accommodate the request that my food does not come in contact with any shellfish. The first time I ate there, I did not have a problem and they did well at accommodating my request. The second time, I had an allergic reaction and I contacted them. I did not realize that they messed my order up and gave me a type of shellfish instead of tuna! They did not seem to really care much and would not agree to exchange the order and give me what I actually ordered! I understand that orders get messed up and things happen, but it was really frustrating when they did not even seem to care or try to do a thing about it! I was not asking for free food or even my money back. I was simply requesting to receive the correct order that I paid for! Luckily my allergic reaction was not bad, but their customer service is!

The beef salad is good, a bit small, but very tasty. The Thai Iced Coffee is a joke - the smallest glass I've ever seen, filled to the brim with ice and then a tiny bit of coffee. Service was bad on my 2nd trip. (The first trip I was served by Lawrence, the manager, formerly of Sushi Kushi - he's great. Ask him to bring back the terrific tofu pie). $5 for an avocado roll is pretty steep for this area.
